Finishing touch - painting of the mast

Initially the plan was not to do anything with the mast, apart from checking the stays and change out some of the halyard rollers up in the mast. The boat used to have steel wire halyards and the original rollers were very worn out.

The new rollers.

As the project was going on it was clear it would be a lost opportunity not to paint the mast as well. The original colar was grey, but decided to paint it white.
Therefore also could remove and check what a plate was covering. Why somebody would make a cut like this is unclear, but at least it does not show anymore.

Hole which was covered with a SS plate and the result afterwards.

Here some photos of the condition of the mast.

And the result afterwards.

Also checked the navigation lights and installed a new wind vane.

Some details, protection at the end of the spreaders and the radar reflector.

Finally the day was there to re-install the mast again. The weather was perfect no wind at all.
